An opportunity for a Managing Director has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Secure Land Communications (SLC) entity. The Managing Director is a member of the Europe Region, belonging to the Europe Management team. He/she is based in Bratislava (Slovakia).


Airbus Slovakia s.r.o. is marketing, selling and delivering projects and services in the field of Business and Mission Critical Communications and Applications. 

Your Tasks

Accountabilities

The jobholder is the Managing Director and reports to the Head of Sales, Progams and Services Delivery for Europe. In particular he/she is accountable for:  

  • His/Her own Profit & Loss for Airbus Slovakia s.r.o., including Order Intake, revenues, margin, cash and working capital in line with the Airbus and Airbus Secure Land Communications (SLC) objectives and maximizing the value created by the Affiliate in accordance with the Airbus and SLC strategy.
  • Management of the Affiliate in compliance with Airbus Requirements for Affiliates, policies and standards, local laws and regulations, Affiliate internal procedures and Board of Directors’ resolutions.
  • Being the legal representative of the Affiliate, although she/he may delegate her/his signature through Power of Attorneys to other officers within or outside the Affiliate.


Dimensions

Leads and manages a team of 5 Headcount. Activities are running across the sites of Slovakia Republic.


Main activities  

  • Running the day-to-day activities of the Affiliate under the supervision of his/her manager and of the Board/Governance Committee, the jobholder manages the entity and is responsible of:  
    • Lead Company Strategy definition and implementation in line with the Airbus Strategies, Policies & Standards 
    • Manage Budget, Resource and Investment Planning and monitoring  
    • Positioning the Company as a market leader in its segments and with key stakeholders
    • Developing opportunities and winning new business, ensuring additional order intake and business growth without compromising long-term value for short term results;
      • Manage risks and opportunities
      • Act as a leader and mentor developing a stable & proficient local team with a shared vision and objectives in line with the Top Company Objectives, Airbus values, ethics and compliance, processes and best practices
      • Report to Head of Europe. This includes yearly target settings, performance evaluation, weekly and monthly reporting.
      • Interface and work with functional teams: Finance, HR, IT, Admin, Procurement. If applicable ensure the adequate set-up and operational management of local services.
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors/Governance Committee and Chairperson according to Airbus’ Affiliate management rules
  • If applicable, support the One-Roof project in Slovakia: Set-up of adequate shared services, alignment of Finance/HR/Procurement/Admin policies and processes
  • If applicable, support the Legal Entity Optimization (LEO) project
  • Develop experiences in divisional decision processes and develop a sound network at other company/division


The primary operational responsibility of the jobholder is Project and Services delivery. He/She will work for this responsibility under the coordination of the Head of Programs in Elancourt (France). This includes the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery: Head of the Project Team during the delivery phase of the contract
    • He/She is responsible for the successful achievement of the project under its technical, schedule, performance, quality, financial and contractual aspects at the customer and stakeholders satisfaction
    • Definition of the WBS
  • Authorization of the start and stop of activities linked to the scope of work of the project at work package level
  • Definition of the project team organisation according to P&C process and based on EAC0
  • Responsibility of financial objectives : turnover, margin and cash
    • Delivery of EAC and proposal for optimization
    • Follow up, and analysis of project expenses 
    • Budget update 
  • Responsibility of the elaboration and update of the PMP (Project Management Plan) 
  • Regular reporting to the Customer, including corrective plan if necessary
  • Assessment and coverage of the risks of the project
  • Management of the project team (individual objectives definition and assessment)
  • Care Delivery: in charge of the Services Contract management
    • He/She is responsible for the progress of the Services contract under its technical, performance, quality, financial and contractual aspects at the customer and stakeholders satisfaction, and as such, he/she co-ordinates all activities by clear empowerment of authority of the management
    • Understand stakeholders requirements and expectations
  • Elaborate Services contract and support Account Manager during negotiation phase
  • Interface with the Customer for Services Contract, and have authority to define other interfaces
  • Elaborate (if not done before) and iterate the Care Plan
  • Set-up of Care organisation to fill Services contract requirements and manage correspondent activities
  • Report the work progress, assess and cover the risks of the Contract to Account Manager
  • Authorise the start and stop of activities linked to the scope of work of the contract at activities level
  • Follow Services performance metrics and deliver periodic reports to the Customer, including corrective plan if necessary


The jobholder is also the head of sales for the entity. He/She will work for this responsibility under the coordination of the Head of Sales in Elancourt (France). This includes the following roles and responsibilities.

  • Development and implementation of a sales strategy in line with the goals of SLC
  • Establishment/development and maintenance of a stable, long-term customer network and long-term customer loyalty
  • Establishment/development of partnerships, including industrial cooperation
  • Preparation of operational planning for order intake and contribution to strategic planning
  • Performance and control of sales tasks with the goal of realizing the planned order intake in line with the economic targets of SLC
  • Apply SLC processes related to business development and sales activities
  • Preparing, conducting and controlling of contract negotiations, as well as responsibility for the result, in accordance with economic, legal and operational principles
  • Ensuring regular internal and external communications and support of the Marketing and Communications departments

Professional skills

  • Required field of education: Telecommunications Engineer
  • Market knowledge: knowledge of business and mission critical communications and applications market (& the competition) and Airbus's products / solutions/ service portfolio characteristics.
  • Strategy : ability to build function strategy considering market evolution, customer demand, function vision and capabilities in the context of Airbus Secured Land Communication mission & vision / Ability to contribute to the definition of the products or service that will best serve the company's interest, taking into account the market situation, the technological differentiating factors, and the business case aspects (SWOT). 
  • Project and Service Delivery: Experience in large projects and services delivery 
  • Sales: Experience in sales and customers’ relationship management
  • Export Control : Ability to support Airbus export control compliance framework 
  • Finance: Knowledge of accounting principles driven by local statutory obligations/ Ability to communicate specific financial matters of financial reports and ability to answer requests from auditors in strong collaboration with the Company Head of Finance.
  • Health & Safety: Understanding of the requirement to have an H&S and an Environmental Management System certified by external bodies such as ISO, EMAS or OHSAS / Knowledge of the management system structure / Knowledge of risk mitigation techniques.
